What is the area code for Cheltenham?
The area code for Cheltenham is 01242. Local numbers are written in the format 01242 xxxxxx.
Can I get a 01242 number if my office is not in Cheltenham?
Yes. A virtual 01242 number can ring any phone in the UK, which is useful if you serve customers in Cheltenham from another base or work from home. The number should be used for genuine business in or with the Cheltenham area.
Can I keep my existing Cheltenham number if I move to VoIP?
Yes. We port 01242 numbers from your current provider to our cloud platform, so you keep your number and stop paying for the old line.
How does the PSTN switch-off affect businesses in Cheltenham?
Openreach is retiring the analogue phone network across the UK, including Gloucestershire, with a fixed date of 31 January 2027. Any business in Cheltenham still using analogue or ISDN lines, or devices that depend on them, needs to move to a digital service.
